First Day of School

Our preschooler! Check out his backpack... really, do kids that little need a cell phone pocket?!?

Yea! Jack had his first day of preschool yesterday. I admit- I was a little nervous about how he'd do when we dropped him off. He was talking a good game, but I thought when it came down to actually going off on his own, he might get a little nervous.

The church where Jack is going to preschool is undergoing some construction, so we're temporarily dropping the kids off upstairs and then they head down to their classroom. We got in, had a little hesitation on Jack's part, but when he saw his teachers, he was good to go. We send him off with a hug and a kiss and he marched to the front of the group. He and all of the other 3 year-olds were off... and so were all of the other parents. Nick and I looked at each other and realized we were the ONLY parents who had come into the church, but didn't follow our kids downstairs. Oops- I guess we're new to this preschool protocol! Jack was doing so well, Nick (I mean, we...) decided it was best to just let him go on his own. Leaving the church felt awfully strange, though.

A few first-day jitters, but nothing a super fun teacher couldn't cure...

Although sending him off marked a big milestone and I thought I'd be overly sentimental, I wasn't. He was excited, I was excited, and not a tear was shed- from either of us.

Will was sad to see his big brother go off without him, but we had fun on our own. It's amazing how much we did in 2 1/2 hours! Voted, played at the park, stopped by the library and got back to pick Jack up with 10 minutes to spare.

I'm so proud of Jack and the grown-up little guy he's becoming. I can't wait to hear all of the stuff he does at preschool... and pass on the funny stories to you!
