Nick's Birthday Bonus

Despite our unfortunate birthday events of Nick's birthday weekend, this past weekend more than made up for the bloopers. My parents were able to secure us some awesome tickets to the Iowa/Minnesota football game for Nick's birthday and once we twisted their arms (ha!), agreed to watch the boys so we could enjoy a day of tailgating with friends and cheer on the Hawks.

For me, this is my "no lose" game. Growing up in Minnesota, I've always liked the Gophers, but there just isn't quite the passion for college sports like there is in Iowa. I guessing it's because Minnesota has professional sports teams that draw a fan base, too. When I ended up in Iowa, I didn't realize just how much Iowans are dedicated to their college of choice... the Iowa/Iowa State rivalry is intense! My hubby comes from a strong line of Hawkeye fans, so I guess my allegiance has followed naturally. Either way, I win during the pursuit of Floyd of Rosedale....

Things finally worked out in Nick's favor... the Hawkeyes demolished the Gophers. Not only did it make for a great birthday finale, but also a more pleasant trip home on Sunday.
