Thankful for... my hubby

So, I'm stealing an idea from some facebook friends, who are posting something that makes them thankful every day until Thanksgiving. What a perfect time to remember and acknowledge all of the blessings we have...

Today, I'm thankful for my husband. On Tuesday, we got to celebrate his birthday and remind him just how much we love him. We didn't do anything extraordinary, but we spent the day hanging out, doing stuff he likes and just being a family. We've always had a tradition of taking the day off- it just makes the day that much more special, spending it with the ones you love!

I'm thankful for the fact that, despite us being voted "odd couple" at our senior banquet in college, we realized how much we really do have in common. Stereotypes like jock & sorority girl aren't what matter... it's the big stuff, like values, that's important. That, and the fact that the difference we do have make us a good balance.

I'm thankful for the fact that he loves me, just the way I am. He (sometimes begrudgingly) gives me back rubs or foot rubs when I ask. He never makes me feel guilty when I don't feel like picking up the house, making dinner or doing the laundry. He doesn't ever complain when I have three girls nights in one week. He makes an effort in our marriage and he gets what makes me tick.

I'm thankful for the fact that he is a hands-on dad. He is so amazing with our boys. He gets home from a long day at work and spends the next few hours playing, wrestling, teasing. He's not afraid to change a diaper, gives better baths than I do and reads a mean bedtime story. He has passed on, among other important values, his love for the Hawkeyes (and cheetos, pop tarts & sugar cereals, thank you).

I'm thankful that he isn't afraid to be himself. I love his faithfulness, optimism, quirkiness, dedication, confidence, ability to have a good work/life balance, love of family. I'm thankful for Nick and we're SO blessed to have him as the head of our family!

Here are Jack's answers to why his dad is so great (maybe I need to coach him better next year:)):
