Thankful for... girlfriends

Today I'm thankful for amazing girlfriends. I think that having at least one good girlfriend is essential for women. I know that as much as I consider Nick to be my best friend, there is something totally different about being friends with a girl- there's something that we just get about each other.

I feel extremely blessed to have lots of good girlfriends from many different periods of my life. Most of us have had our ups and downs, hugged when we needed a shoulder to cry on, stood up for each other in one another's weddings- just experienced life side by side.

The last two weekends I've been able to spend time with five of my besties. Last weekend, I got to see Jules & Tiff, the friends I've probably known the longest. Julie wins the award for oldest friend... We've known one another since I moved in next door when I was ten months old. Tiffany and I go back to high school, when we met in science class. We weren't immediate friends, but I thank God we finally found something in common.

The three of us have so much shared history that we can go for months without seeing one another and pick up like no time has passed. We all have super fun husbands that get along great, too. So much so, that we've spent our fair share of couple weekends and always find something new to laugh about. Now, we are passing out friendship on to the next generation and after our much-needed "adults only" night last Friday, we had a family night on Saturday and rounded up the troops:

I'm also really blessed to live near a lot of my college girlfriends. It's kind of funny that Kelly & Mandy have ended up living about two minutes apart and Christy and I do, too. The four of us get to see each other more often and whether we just head to a chick flick or spend a night talking for hours, it's always a good time.

We spent Friday night looking at old pictures, laughing at old stories, planning new adventures. It's hard to believe it's been ten years since we were in college- most of the time, it feels like we were just there, being crazy and having fun (although the outfits in our pictures proved more time has passed than we thought)... Maybe if you're lucky I'll hook up the scanner & provide you with a before & after pic sometime:)

I am so thankful today for EVERY one of my friends, old and new. My friends from "home," my college friends, my dinner & dish girls, the friends I've made through my kids, the friends in my neighborhood, my friends at church. I love that each friendship offers me something different, and for that, I'm thankful.
