A little hiatus

Obviously I'm not as addicted to blogging as I am to Facebook... not yet, at least! I've definitely spent more time checking out other people's blogs over the past month than I've spent thinking about mine. I guess that's what happens when a two year old & four month old occupy most of my time. I used to actually enjoy writing, but now I'm lucky if I get to write anything other than a shopping list or a thank you note! Many of you have been asking why I'm such a slacker, so I'm back by popular demand (just kidding)...

Here are some of the highlights of the past month or so:

Nanny & Boppa came to get their "Jack & Will fix." We went on walks, explored the zoo & celebrated Father's Day & my birthday. Jack & Boppa walk Lily. She passed away only a couple weeks later. She was so gentle & LOVED kids, walks & ice cream!

Jack feeding the crazy goats at the zoo... he would pick out which goat he wanted to feed & made sure only that goat got the food.

The boys pose with Daddy on Father's Day. Jack LOVES getting his picture taken. The boys wore cute t-shirts that said "I love my daddy" and had pictures of them with Nick.

Nick & I went to 801 Grand to celebrate my birthday. I was taking a picture of our cute dessert plate when the waitress walked by & offered to take a picture of us. It was so nice to get a night out, but Jack & Will gave Christy & Gabe a run for their money... oops!

At the end of June, the whole Andersen/Meis clan went back to the farm for Nick's grandparents' 60th wedding anniversary. It was so much fun for everyone to be back. Jack had so much fun playing with his cousins. We're lucky to all get together once or twice a year, so we cherish the time we have with Nick's parents, his sisters and their families.

Nick's grandma & grandpa have six kids, 13 grandkids and 7 great-grandkids. Here are all of the grandkids & greats (minus Joni & Brylee).

Jack had his first horse ride (yes, on a real horse:)) when we were back! Unfortunately, Nick & I missed it... this picture on its plastic counterpart is the closest thing we have.

Nick & Will relaxing with Uncle Jim & cousin Maura... she's just 3 weeks older than Will. Next summer they'll be joining the other crazies!

Jack at the WDM 3rd of July parade. He was really into the parades this year... well, the candy & "characters." He pretty much ate candy throughout the entire parade (& that's a lot of candy since we were at the beginning of the parade route).

Daddy & the boys on the 4th of July. Urbandale has a really cool celebration over the 4th... parade, carnival rides, etc. I felt like we were in a movie or something; it's just so picture-perfect. BTW, not as much candy at the end of the parade route.

Will was baptized a couple of weeks ago. I wish I had a better picture of him in his outfit... he wore the same outfit that Jack, Nick and Nick's dad wore. It's so neat to have something so sentimental. He was so good (as usual) during the baptism... he just kept smiling at the Pastor while she poured the water over his head. Aunt Ami, Uncle Corby and our friends, Tiff & Dave are his Godparents. I know they'll all be awesome examples of faith to him.

You're reading it here first... I'm vowing to become a more consistent blogger. That way I don't have to do so much to catch up each time!
