The recurring theme of this past week has seemed to be "bathroom issues." You're probably thinking, "Oh, Jack must be potty training." You're wrong... He has absolutely zero interest in anything relating to it. Months ago, we bought him an Elmo potty (he even talks) & the "Elmo's Potty Time" DVD. While he loves watching the DVD, he has yet to sit on the potty.
We had no big plans on Tuesday morning... just running some errands, so when Jack refused to put a diaper back on, I thought it might be the first signs of wanting to go potty "like a big boy." I brought out the dusty, like-new Elmo potty, tried to entice him with super cute big boy undies, even bribing him with m&ms and stickers. I asked him every two minutes if he needed to go potty. Nothing. I threw my plans to run errands out the window, doing whatever it would take to get him to go on the potty. Surely he'd have to go sometime... For a good hour and a half, he ran around with only his jammies shirt & Elmo slippers (occasionally putting on the uber-cute undies). Finally we went to the basement to watch "Bob the Builder", toting Elmo with us. Just as he snuggled in on the couch, there was pee everywhere. Ugh! (Note: I cleaned it up really well, so don't worry about sitting there if you're at our house:)...). Someday he'll get it, but in the meantime, I guess that means more m&ms for me.
To precede the big "potty incident," the boys both gave me the gift of poo this past week. The boys & I visited Nick's family last week while he was in Lincoln for work. Kiley & I had the bambinos at the mall with us and got ready to sit in the middle of the mall and feed them. I commented on Will's "sweaty feet" smell as I lifted him out of his carrier. Only when I heard Kiley's gasp did I realize that he wasn't just a little warm from being all snuggled up in his carseat. No, he had poop coming out... everywhere. If he weren't such a laid back little guy I might have had a clue, but he just sat and smiled at me throughout the whole ordeal. This was no ordinary blowout... trust me, I've handled many of those. This one covered him chin to toe, front & back. It covered me, too... and the carseat and the stroller! It may not have been so bad had we been near a changing table, but all we had was a bench in the middle of the mall, a changing pad and almost an entire pack of wipes. I only wish I'd thought to document it in pictures...

Not to be left out, Jack gave me a nice surprise on Monday. As I was getting the boys dressed on my bed, Jack took off his diaper (a new habit when he's getting changed... normally it saves me a little time) and proceeded to sit on my duvet. Only when I looked over did I notice that he left me a nice little pile of poo, too. Ick. Normally he's so stinky I know when he has a dirty diaper. Unfortunately that wasn't the case this time. Luckily it was just a duvet so I could throw it in the wash and I had just recently survived the Great Blowout '08.

Love the blog and the poop stories. Your guys are so adorable!
LMAO!! Brynn was the Blowout Queen at Will's age. One of my fav's was when she was in her high chair and Casey was feeding her baby food squash. "Why is there all that squash on the floor?" I ask naively... See you tomorrow!
