My handsome heroes

I'd probably be totally remiss if I didn't write an obligatory Halloween post. It's just eight days after, so I'm doing pretty well, I guess.

On Halloween Eve, while all of our Des Moines friends were out trick-or-treating, we carved our pumpkins and got all ready for the big day. It was a great family night:

* They boys changed their minds 2 or 3 times about what they wanted on their pumpkin.

* Will was excited to get in on the action this year... until he felt the inside of the pumpkin. Then he just played the role of entertainer.

* We scooped out the seeds and decided to bake them. I was the only one who ate any and actually liked them. I don't think this is a tradition I'll continue.

* All in all, it was a successful evening:

On Halloween, all of my boys got in the spirit and dressed up :

We hit the streets to get some candy. Luckily, our "streets" only include about a dozen homes, which is the perfect amount of time for a 2 1/2 year old and a 4 1/2 year old! Jack showed Will the ropes (this melts my heart): When we got home, the boys took over handing out candy. Jack took that role very seriously- when he went to put on his pjs, he told me, "If that skeleton comes back again, tell him he's already been here three times and he doesn't get anymore candy!" Do not try to pull one over on him! Fortunately for all, the skeleton didn't make the rounds again, so the candy police didn't have to be called into action.
