crazy busy

Whew... we've survived the last couple of weeks, but they've been insane! Seriously, if we feel this busy now, I can't even imagine what it will be like in a few years when the boys have school, activities in the evenings and we have to be creative to eat dinner as a family. I'm trying to soak it all up now, for I realized in the last couple of weeks that this is probably going to happen sooner than I'd like!

Most nights at dinner, we take turns talking about our favorite things of the day. Since I feel like so much has been going on since I last posted, I'll just highlight my "favorites" of the past couple weeks:

* Music! Leading Mommy & Me Music last week with Will and Jack. Especially seeing what a little leader Jack is on his own. It melted my heart at the end, when we snuggle up & sing "You are My Sunshine," that Jack sat by himself & said, "Does anyone want to snuggle?" So sweet.

* Doctors (for well-checks, only:))! Will had his 18 month appointment & is right on track. I think they were generous with his height measurement, since he was so wiggly... 35 1/2 inches (off the charts). He was 26 pounds & consistent with both of my boys... has a 25% head circumference. He was anticipating the shots throughout the appointment- every time we'd try to lay him down he'd freak out, but as soon as they were over, he was laughing & smiling like a champ. Way to go, Will!

* Preschool! Jack had sharing & snack last week at preschool. He had to bring 3-4 square items, so we put a lot of thought into what he brought: a napkin (since helping set the table is his job), a book (since he loves to read), a block (since he loves to play with his brother), and a CD insert (since he loves music). He was so proud. I asked him if he told his class why he brought the items he brought (which he practiced on us over & over) & of course, he said, "no." Oh well, he has plenty of time to develop his public speaking skills, I guess:)

* Zoo school! Jack & I went to his second Zoo Tots program last week at the Zoo. It was all about alligators & we even got to touch one! I love being able to do things one-on-one with my boys! And Will had fun playing with Ava while we were gone (I think we'll be in trouble some day, with three adorable girls living right next door)!

Jack was a little hesitant at first, but he thought the alligator was pretty cool...

* Bunco! Any good mom needs a little balance, and mine comes in many different forms. I am so lucky to have two awesome Bunco groups & hosted one of them last week. We had a great time eating, playing & catching up.

* Homecoming! It's crazy to think it's been 10 years since we graduated from college! Despite the snow & cold, we headed down to Simpson to celebrate (& let my dad finally watch a whole football game- sorry it was too cold & a one-sided game... one of these years it'll work). Not sure if the weather kept people away, but the turnout for our reunion was a little less than what we expected. Of course we still had a great time & connected with college friends (& one I hadn't seen since college).

Will would finally go in the bounce house at homecoming... and he wouldn't come out. We literally had to drag him out at the very end. I see many days at Pump it Up in our future...

* Nanny & Bapa! Thanks to my mom & dad for coming to hang out for the weekend & take the kids home early so we could enjoy the homecoming festivities! They were able to witness the first way-too-early snow of the season (October 10!), too:
The first time BOTH brothers are playing in the snow- hopefully it won't happen again for a while:)

Snuggling with Bapa & Nanny...

It's been a fun, crazy, busy couple of weeks & looks like it'll be a few more days until we can slow down again...
